Why Ridley Locksmith & Security Is Corte Madera’s Preferred Rekey Locks Company

Corte Madera homeowners call us because we operate under The Garrison Standard, a written code every technician follows on every job. That means a background-checked, uniformed technician arrives in a marked van, confirms who we are before any tool comes out of the bag, and hands you a written price before work starts. No subcontractors. No unmarked cars. No price that grows at the doorstep.

Drew Kowalski leads our rekey work across Corte Madera. Technicians trained on Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, Baldwin, and high-security Medeco hardware show up ready for the mixed-brand reality of Marin County homes. That matters here. Most Corte Madera houses don’t have one brand of lock. They have three.

Our response time to most Corte Madera neighborhoods runs 30 to 60 minutes during normal business hours. Every rekey carries a written guarantee covering the work for one full year. If something fails inside that window, we return at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s in writing, not just said over the phone.

Lock Rekey in Corte Madera

Lock Rekey in Corte Madera means changing the pins inside a lock cylinder so the old key stops working and a new one takes its place. For homeowners near Madera Gardens or along Tamalpais Drive, it’s the fastest way to restore control of a door without replacing the hardware. New home, lost key, tenant move-out, a cleaner who still has a copy: these are the everyday reasons people call. A single lock rekey in Corte Madera typically runs $45 to $85, and a three-lock job comes in between $120 and $210, depending on brand and cylinder condition.

When Old Pins Need More Than a Repin

Older Corte Madera doors with Kwikset or Weiser knobs often have worn pin-and-tumbler cylinders. Repinning alone won’t fix a cylinder that’s sloppy from 20 years of use. In those cases we swap the cylinder while keeping your existing hardware on the door. The price for a cylinder swap runs $65 to $110 per lock. You’ll hear that figure on the phone before we dispatch, and it’s the number on the invoice.

Same-Day Rekey on Wood-Frame Entries

Most Corte Madera homes built before 1980 have wood-frame doors with older face-bores. Those doors don’t need drilling to rekey. A proper rekey is non-destructive. We pull the cylinder, replace the pins, and reinstall it in the same bore. The job takes 20 to 40 minutes per lock and doesn’t damage the door or the frame. You choose which doors get keyed alike and which stay on separate keys.

Locksmith Rekey in Corte Madera

Locksmith Rekey in Corte Madera is the service you need when one house has drifted onto four different keys. New front deadbolt, original side-door knob, a garage entry someone changed years ago, and a back door that still uses the previous owner’s key. We fix that in a single visit. A standard Locksmith Rekey across three doors runs $120 to $210 in this market. If a front Schlage deadbolt needs a bump-resistant cylinder upgrade, add roughly $35 to $50 per cylinder.

Two Brands, One Key, One Visit

A homeowner near Christmas Tree Hill called after a tenant move-out. The front Schlage deadbolt and the side-door Kwikset knob had separate keys, and one old key had been handed to a cleaner. We pulled both cylinders, repinned each to one fresh key, installed a bump-resistant Schlage cylinder in the front deadbolt, and left with the side door on the same key. Total on-site time was under an hour. No drilling. Price confirmed on the phone before dispatch.

Master Key Systems for Corte Madera Multifamily Buildings

Property managers on the flats near the Village and along Redwood Highway often need a master key system: one key for the landlord, individual keys for each unit. We pin the cylinders so both work, and we stock the Schlage and Kwikset cylinders needed to do it on the first trip. If you manage a duplex or small apartment building in Corte Madera, call for a written scope and a flat per-lock price before we schedule.

Trusted Brands We Service in Corte Madera

We stock Schlage, Kwikset, and Medeco cylinders on our Corte Madera routes, which means a mixed-brand house doesn’t mean a second visit. Whether your front door wears a Schlage deadbolt, your side entry has a Kwikset knob, or you want a Medeco high-security cylinder keyed into the rotation, we carry what the job needs. Our technicians train on the full spectrum, so a Baldwin front entry or an older Weiser knob doesn’t slow the work down. Rekey Locks work gets done the same day we quote it, with parts in the van, not on order.

Common Rekey Locks Problems We See in Corte Madera Homes

• Mixed-brand doors on the same house. A front Schlage deadbolt, a side Kwikset knob, and a rear Weiser knob is common in Corte Madera. Rekeying all three to one key requires a tech who carries multiple brand cylinders, because a Kwikset key won’t fit a Schlage core and vice versa.
• Worn cylinders on older wood-frame doors. Homes along Chapman Drive and around Madera Boulevard often have original door hardware from the 1970s. When pin chambers wear out, repinning alone leaves a loose tailpiece. The fix is a cylinder swap, priced and confirmed before we drive out.
• Key pile-up from previous owners and tenants. A Corte Madera house that’s changed hands twice can have keys floating around with dog walkers, cleaners, and the previous owner’s sister. Rekeying restores a single controlled key set in one visit.
• Doorstep phone calls with shifting prices. Callers get a teaser quote, then the on-site tech finds a second or third keyed entry and the price climbs. We lock the number on the phone: you tell us the door count and the brand, we give a written price before anyone leaves the shop.
